Fisher enjoyed an afternoon at the Birch Aquarium with Mom & Dad. Abbigail was doing far cooler things; like shopping at the mall with her friend, spending some hard earned money. I was sad she chose not to come as her first trip to Birch Aquarium was around the exact same age as Fisher… really? Really? Has it been that long? So strange how fast time can fly by, at the speed of light, at the times you would sell your soul for it to slow down and yet, be painfully slow and languid at the times you wish it to take flight and move on. Exasperated sigh. I digress.
Fisher found himself quite at home with the creatures of the sea. As the fish swam by the glass he would reach out and try to grab at them, only to hit the tank, and then do it again at the next station. No comment. We like to think of it as; he is very determined. He enjoyed running around, pushing his way to the front of the large wall tank, talking up a storm, using his hand gestures and showing no fear of the many feet or dim lighting that surrounded him. He is a little man that can own a room with charm and confidence… meanwhile mom and Dad ran after him closely to ensure no one inadvertently stepped on the lost Fish, the one out of water… it is a tireless job! He climbed Mountain Peaks (New Zealand to be exact), explored the tenants of the deep blue sea, handled lobsters (one real, one not), splashed through tide pools while looking for- well okay, he just liked splashing in the water, survived the jaws of death and used his devilishly good looks to pose as an adoption poster child (look at that face!)... A philanthropist at heart.
Funny how a typical Saturday afternoon can be transformed into wonderment when experiencing the ordinarily mundane ( or rather the ‘been there and done that like a thousand times’) through the fresh eyes of your child- a whole new world to learn and explore. How lucky are we? Pretty lucky.
** I can't just pick a few, sorry.
Hugs & Fishy Kisses until next time!
