School of Fish

Fisher Lee goes to school for the very first time!
First day of preschool.
August 29, 2011.
How pitiful is this face. Our baby boy. Aghhhh.

Fish picked out his own lunch box and was so proud to carry it.
Note Bear in his backpack. Sweet.

That's my boy! Classic Fish face when asked to smile.

...Then silly faces!

He ran to the car- so excited.

More silly faces.

Let's just say that the first day- was the best day.
Preschool has been an adjustment. Fish misses Susie, who other than his Nana Noni has been his only caretaker- ever. But he is adjusting and bringing home all his awesome school work. His Nana Noni comes by every night to help praise him. It really does take a village. It's heart breaking being parents and letting go each morning... but then he comes home and he is amazing and tells us of all he has learned from his teacher, Mrs. Peck. He uses his please's and thank you's and when he does something new... your heart skips a beat with pride and you know you have to let him grow. Then you tell yourself repeatedly, that one day soon he won't cry the next morning and he will always remain safe, physically and emotionally, in your absence. That he will never, never, tire of giving you sweaty hugs and sweet baby boy kisses.
I truly think we will have a complete breakdown when we have to give Fisher his first haircut. We're already on the crazy parent ledge. Growing up is so hard.

Post script:
At the time that I write this post, being very behind, Abbi has starterd her new high school, 10th grade. She is doing great and once I upload the photo I will post her first day, as I do every year. You will find it in my September posting. Forthcoming.
