We celebrated Fisher’s 2nd birthday this past Saturday with a children’s party at our home. Orange and yellows sprinkled the lawn in honor of the Fish (goldfish was the name of this game.) The guest of honor, however, was feeling more blue than bright. About 45 minutes into his own party he asked to be held and just collapsed in our arms. Yes folks, he was sick. Just like that. No symptoms prior. After we opened presents we ran his temp and his was burning a 103.4. Poor thing!! We had no idea he was coming down with something. So, after that 45 minutes of hard-core running madness (it’s his party; he’s allowed to), a few swings at his awesome piñata (designed and built by Poppi Tops- huge thank you!), he gave in. The good news is, a few Tylenol later and some rest, that evening he devoured his dinner (mommy made his favorite; spinach tortellini w/ pesto sauce) and his birthday cupcake. He finished out the weekend with a fever but is feeling much better now- just in time to celebrate his actual birthday- on the 16th. More treats in store for our little guy. Thank you all for helping us to celebrate the best little boy ever!
How awesome is this piñata? The bestest ever!
The ar-t-eeest and his apprentice. Smooches.
**Some pictures of Fish before he crashed.
The bubble pool.
Blowing bubbles.
Stick. Did you know the stick made it into the toy hall of fame? It did.
More bubbles.
The baby pool after the bubbles were dumped. Creative containment.
Swash-buckling cousins.
Face painting- Fishy Faces.
And done. Right before the piñata (which he did hit well for a few minutes) you can see it in his eyes- he does not feel well.
Fisher taking swings with his stick- before it was time.
Ta-Da! I present to you, the Piñata - clearly the star of this show. Jakey says so.
Birthday Boy up!
Little Joaquin. He’ll be two in October.
I think they are having a conversation. The Fish Whisperer.
Jakey.
Hunter.
Waiting for their turns.
Anthony.
Kaiya.
And the Star; Lily! You go girl! She nailed it!
Sorry for those I am missing. Honestly... not moving very fast with uploads right now. I am far too impatient.
Dad taking the final swing- but only after getting himself dizzy. "Nate, put your head down and spin 'round 8 times."
Get it! Get it! The goods.
And the Fish goes down for the count.
Ring Toss.
Leg Races.
Everyone was a winner! Bag o' prizes.
Kissy lips was the name of day!
Poor birthday boy. As I said, this was how he spent all but 45 minutes of his party.
Cupcakes- yum!
*The goody bags for the little party guests are in the back. Wooden musical Instruments, with goldfish painted on them and some treats. A perfect way to say thank you for coming... and ugh... hope you don't get sick. Opps. Sorry.
Fisher just wasn't having it. We all sang anyway.
Presents.
Poppi Tops is smart. The best gift ever- a large bucket of balls. Why have we not thought of that?!?!?!

Say cheese! Josh hanging out with the older chicks. Niiice.
So, this is about where the party ends. Below are pictures of that evening when Fish perked up just enough to destroy some dinner and cake before bed.
Fisher gets his cake, too. Now, remember last year- no? Okay, well here is a revisit; the kid wanted nothing to do with his cake, or any of it for that matter! So, this year, we had to make up for the lack of mess from his First Birthday. As noted above, he felt a little better when the Baby Motrin kicked in, ate dinner, ate his cake, played a bit with Dad and then crashed out early for some much needed rest.
First Birthday flashback:
2nd Birthday (party) Continues...
He kept sticking his candle in and out of his cake. Anything can be a eating utensil.
Show us how messy you got! Yippee!
Proof that we did fed him dinner!
Sweet dreams our little birthday boy! May you dream of big, wonderful and adventurous moments and things that bring you peace. May you dream of the boy you will grow up to be and what an amazing person he will be- always our treasure.
