This year we held a traditional dinner at our place. A quaint little dinner for just us. Spent the day cooking and enjoying each other free of cell phones, email and buzz. The food came out perfect, the bird, our guest of honor, was nothing short of turkey perfection cooked with white wine, pear and apple, fresh rosemary and my secret spices and sauce. Of course, I have to say all this, but it is the truth. Delicious and all homemade! Fisher went to town with his meal, even using his fork most of the time! He did take a few mash potatoes swipes at the camera lens. Yuk. It’s all a blur. Literally.
After dinner some friends strolled through for a cocktail and good cheer and one even stayed throughout the night to play his first games of Mexican Train- you know who you are *cough* Anthony.
Nate, Abbi and I spent some time around the dinner table reflecting on what we were Thankful for in 2009. It sounds cheesy but we really believe in stopping to think about it all and to contemplate- something we have not done recently. Just stuck in the daily grind. Doing so, showed us that no matter how “tight” things may be or how difficult situations may be, in the end, we have so much to be grateful for.
For Nate and I it goes without saying that first and foremost, we are thankful every second of everyday for the health and safety and happiness of Abbi & Fisher. Everything else is secondary to them. We find ourselves blessed to have steady employment, housing and ample food for our family; you always want/ need more but in this economy we understand how lucky we are to be able to provide for our family, no matter how humbly. We are thankful for the love and support of those near to us- to have such genuine friends is to have a fortune. We are thankful for our health and mental stability through not so stable times. I am sure I am leaving off a slew of items that we are thankful for, but you get the idea! Abbi and Fisher you ask? Well, Abbi, so silly I will tell you in person. Or, so 14 rather. The Fish, I’d say kisses and food!
